In 2014 Baylor College of Medicine signed a long-term agreement with (CHRISTUS Health) The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio to be its academic affiliate.  Since then, Baylor has built a physician practice with over 220 providers.  At the same time, CHRISTUS Health began the transformation of a 50-year service into a stand-alone, world-class children’s hospital, expected to provide care for 6,000 inpatient, 90,000 emergency department and 90,000 outpatient women and children in Central Texas.  The transformation commitment included a $180 million, 800,000-square-foot project expansion and renovation. CHOFSA is a tertiary care facility that provides access to a full range of pediatric subspecialists, advanced pediatric cardiology services, a level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Maternal Fetal Care and OB/GYN services.

Baylor medical staff at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio totals approximately 180 physicians, 40 advanced practice providers and 40 General Pediatric residents.  Twenty-eight pediatric and obstetrics/gynecology specialties/subspecialties are represented. Physicians provide pediatric, primary, specialty, hospital, urgent and emergency care in 12 locations in central and northern San Antonio.  The group maintains the Baylor focus on research and innovation with a developing research portfolio.

Baylor now seeks a Director, Revenue Integrity to create and implement a physician education program to assist our physician leaders in understanding the regulations associated with standard medical coding practices.  This newly created position will support medical staff through physician revenue education designed to ensure consistency with standard coding practices and with maintenance of proper coding in accordance with CPT/HCPCS and payer standards. The Director will establish policies associated with related coding activities and will coordinate with the independent billing function.  The Director will work closely with the compliance function in auditing coding efficacy.

Qualified candidates must possess seven years of directly related experience.  A bachelor’s degree is required.  Candidates must bring experience/education demonstrating strong knowledge of physician coding/documentation standards as well as success in building both auditing and education programs related to revenue integrity.  Demonstrated success working with physician and executive leadership is essential.

San Antonio is the 7th largest metropolitan area in the United States.  The city has a diverse population of over 1.4 million people.  It is recognized for its very affordable cost of living and support of cultural activities including theatre, museums, on-going festivals and numerous public attractions as well as multiple outdoor sports venues.  Higher education is well-represented in the 11 colleges and universities in the area.
