Baylor College of Medicine is the only private medical school in the southwestern United States.  U.S. News and World Report lists it among the leading biomedical research institutions and currently ranks it as the best medical school in Texas.  In the U.S. News and World Report 2020 rankings, Baylor earned the 22nd place for research, 4th place for primary care, and 8th place for pediatric education.  It is ranked 20th in the nation and number one in Texas in funding from the National Institutes of Health.  In 2016, Reuter’s listed it as #67 on The World’s Most Innovative Universities list. Baylor trains more than 3,000 medical, graduate, nurse anesthesia and physician assistant students, as well as residents and post-doctorate fellows each year.

Five years ago, Baylor became a joint owner of Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, an 850-bed quaternary care facility in the Texas Medical Center.  It also operates Baylor Medicine, a private physician practice with over 1,000 physicians, and provides medical staff for five affiliate organizations.

To support its growing clinical enterprise, Baylor seeks an Executive Director for Clinical and Affiliate Financial Operations to build this new role and enhance financial operations efficacy.  Leading a staff of two, the Executive Director will provide financial oversight and support to Baylor Medicine, including financial analysis and modeling for new recruitment and practice acquisitions.  The Executive Director will also partner with the Baylor St. Luke’s CFO in budgeting and monitoring revenue cycle and service line performance.

Qualified candidates must bring 15+ years of progressive experience in healthcare finance in a matrix organization.  A master’s degree is required.  Candidates must demonstrate a penchant for creating systems and processes to monitor financial operations.  Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with affiliate organizations and to create productive relations in the executive suite is requisite.
