Corporate Responsibility Officer
Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) has recently reorganized the Corporate Responsibility function to better serve their Market Based Organizations (MBO), located throughout the United States. CHI is the seventh (7th) largest health system in the United States, with operations in 18 states, including 78 hospitals, served by over 70,000 associates. The organization is widely recognized as driving one of the most proactive efforts to integrate compliance into the fabric of day-to-day operations, while the Corporate Responsibility Program (CRP) is followed as an industry leader in compliance and privacy best practices.
The Nebraska MBO of CHI now seeks a Corporate Responsibility Officer (CRO) to support the Assistant Division CRO in all phases of planning and implementation of the CRP at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney and Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. The CRO will also serve as the Privacy Coordinator (with support from the Division Privacy Officer). The two organizations include 2,370 employees a total of 446 acute care beds providing tertiary care and a Level II Trauma Center, and a behavioral health hospital.
The new CRO will serve as the content expert on all areas of hospital compliance, so should bring a successful track record of establishing him/herself as a “go to” person. S/he will be responsible for working with local leaders to provide education and audit support services in delivering the CRP. Similarly, the CRO will work with CHI CRP leadership and other divisions to identify, create and hone best practices. In matters external, the CRO should bring substantial experience in responding to investigations/inquiries from CMS, OCR and other governing entities. The CRO must have knowledge of essential compliance standards in IT.
Also, Candidates must demonstrate success/capability in developing strong relationships with facility leadership, quality and medical staff and new outsourced services. As CHI has vast and deep resources, the new CRO must demonstrate experience in utilizing sophisticated tools and optimizing available resources. Familiarity with research compliance standards will be highly valued. Additionally, candidates must bring a minimum of three years of progressively responsible management level experience in healthcare compliance. Another five years of healthcare leadership is required, also. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Certification in healthcare compliance is required within one year. Candidates possessing experience in multi-facility, geographically diverse, large healthcare delivery settings are preferred. Experience working independently is essential.

Cultural interests are fostered through the events center, a USHL hockey team, a performing arts center and a community theater. Education is a priority in this community which is home to University of Nebraska Kearney, with over 7,000 students; and public school students have exceeded national average ACT scores for over 25 years. Housing costs are well below national medians, crime is below national medians, and the unemployment rate is only approximately half of the national average.
