Hospice Medical Director
Over 50 years ago, Tri-Cities Chaplaincy (Chaplaincy) was created by 26 churches in a time when hospice was not a well-recognized service. Over the years the organization has grown to meet the needs of the community, providing care for over 1,257 patients in 2022. It also provided bereavement care to 1,252 adults while Cork’s Place provided bereavement services to over 300 kids. Volunteers donated 1,680 hours and chaplains provided over 20,000 hours of service. The organization, in the past two years, has become a nimble organization that is now positioned to seize new opportunities within its core mission of hospice and chaplaincy. The organization is enabled by a seasoned CEO, a strong board, a highly competent and committed leadership group and very well-established community support and respect.
Chaplaincy now seeks a Hospice Medical Director to lead a staff of 5.5 (MD Associates and Hospice ARNPs) in pursuit of innovation and creativity to achieve planned growth, renewal and revival in the hospice and palliative care programs. The medical director will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans, maintain clinical excellence and uphold the organization's mission to provide comfort, dignity and support to individuals in their final stages of life.
Qualified candidates must possess a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree with an active and unrestricted medical license, demonstrated leadership and strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities. Board-certification or eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is preferred. The Medical Director must also bring knowledge of compliance and regulations adherence. Success in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is essential. A gregarious, positive persona is essential to being successful as one of the key faces of the organization.
The Tri-Cities (Richland, Pasco and Kennewick) area is home to approximately 360,000 people and is one of the fastest growing areas in Washington State. New residents are attracted by the semi-arid climate that provides an average of 250 sunny days per year. The Columbia, Snake and Yakima Rivers flow to a confluence in the area, assuring a variable desert/lush green landscape nestled against the foothills. The climate and rivers support an abundance of outdoor activities. The area boasts a low cost of living and an educated populace; 20,000 people are employed at the Hanford Reservation creating a well-employed, scientific/research segment of the community. The wine industry is substantial and competes with California for the best wines in the country.
